Man I really hope I don’t end up taking this thing back as it’s fucking awesome at everything I want it for apart from the shifty phone reception.

Hmm. I’m afraid I’ve gone a bit iPhone-negative now.
Whilst I love everything about actually using the thing, the phone reception is shockingly bad. To the point I’d say it was totally unnaceptable.
I’m not making cross-network comparisons, even though my Orange signal was never a problem, even on the same network. I was stood in the middle of the street yesterday with the handset showing ‘No Service’ and a friend on O2 was stood next to me with 5 bars showing.
Silly buggers have put the aerial in the bottom of the iPhone too and it’s really obviously wrong because if you pick it up a decent signal showing it can instantly drop to 1 bar!! Put it in the dock, solid 5 bars, pick it up down to 2 or 3 if your lucky.
It’s not just me. I spent last night trawling forums, including the O2 and Apple support ones and there are a HUGE number of people complaining about it.
I hate to admit it, but I do actually think I’ll have to take it back and wait for v3, which is probably going to be awkward as I’ve already requested my PAC code from Orange
