Got to love it when tech exceeds expectations..

I hardly every watch actual TV, partly because it’s mostly rubbish, but also because my sky box is upstairs and so I only really watch it when I’m in bed – which means I never actually get to catch up with everything I’ve recorded unless I burn it to DVD and watch it on my Mac.

Cue the geek solution. I’ve bought myself a Slingbox which is a particularly funky bit of kit that will take a video input from just about anything a squirt it over ethernet. They’ve got desktop clients of PC and Mac and you can even dial home from an mobile and watch on yer iPhone. It’s got an IR sender widget so you can control the box too and if you’re using a desktop app it even gives you an on-screen version of the sky remote (or your desktop box of choice).

Really nice bit of kit, see:

Loving the snow today. First time in years we’ve have proper snow that’s lasted. Of course the downside of living out in the sticks is that our road is still pretty lethal, but thankfully given that the schools are shut that means I’m not teaching tonight and don’t need to drive anywhere. Wellies on then and out for a stomp in the snow!

Lots of pics up on my Flickr account, and of course one for today:

Ow, and then ow some more..

Flippin heck, that was pleasant.

I woke up this morning with what felt like the hangover from hell, splitting headache and decidedly nauseous, which sucks given that I don’t actually drink! It’s entirely possible that it was down to something I ate yesterday, or possibly (shudders to think) down to me breathing in something unpleasant from our boiler which had been on the frizz for a couple of days. Thankfully it’s been serviced today but I’d rather not consider the potential implications if that was the case…

Anyway, suffice to say having got up about 10, taken lots of lovely drugs and gone back to bed I eventually resurfaced about 2:30 to lots more lovely snow and stuff. So, pic of the day then.

A little bit of winter…
