Annual Increment '09

So, another year, another ++ and still alive – WOOHOO!

Had a fairly chilled day really, typical saturday stuff followed by a thoroughly pleasant meal at the Mezzé in Thornbury tonight. It’s a pretty new place (well a completely refurbished old pub) and they’ve done a cracking job. The food was excellent and the service was some of the best I’ve had in years so top marks all round there really (though I did eat too much!) Highly recommended.

It has to be said, Kel excelled herself in the birthday pressie department too, especially given my love of cats and photography.

She made me a little photo album/scrapbook type thing to tell me about it, see..

How ace is that :)

Head feels like it’s in a vice? Check.

Throat like a cheese grater? Check

Feel like I’m wearing an internal balaclava? Check

Skin’s getting all tingly and tender? Check.

I’ve just brazened it out with the pharmacy strength lemsip (last one, damn, knew I should have bought some more), and resigned myself to an early night but I’ve got a horrible feeling this isn’t just the after effects of my gardening escapades earlier (I get *really* nasty hayfever that often makes me throw up, joy, sure you really wanted to know that).

Arse.

Oh I had to chuckle..

On my way back from Kel’s just now and some little scrote nearly took me out at a junction. He had a car full of mates so I guessed they were probably pissed. Anyway, I carried on and then about a quarter of a mile later he does his best Colin Macrae impression as he overtakes me, driving frankly like an utter twat. Those were in fact the very words that went through my head as I though “you utter, utter twat, I really hope you end up in a ditch…”
You’ll appreciate the hilarity of the moment then as a couple of minutes later I caught up with them, which in fact wasn’t hard as he’d lost it down a hill and the car was wrapped around a fence. I did of course stop to check they were all ok, and did the decent thing of giving them a lift into town where I dropped them off outside the pub.
I did also park up and go and have a quiet word with the nice friendly policemen parked nearby.
If there’s one thing I can’t abide it’s fucking pissheads who think they are invincible. This was a classic case where it was only the fact I was a better (and sober) driver that stopped them wiping me out twice. I shudder to think what might have happened if it had been someone less experienced driving.
