Dusty Bin…

Slightly frustrating that I’m a few days behind on my pic-a-day project already, not for lack of inspiration but simply because I’ve got some serious crud on my sensor. I was sorting through some of my snowy shots earlier and noticed a huge splodge on all of them, much worse than I’d ever had before. Arse. No problem i think, I’ll get the old air duster out and give it a clean.

Oops. Big mistake. Now it looks a bit like this:

Double arse!

So, having done some reading it seems that the only real solution would be a visit to the camera shop or bite the bullet and brave it myself with swabs and proper cleaning fluid. So, quick bit of research and an online order I’ll have to wait a few days for some magic cleaning fluid and sensor swabs..

To be fair though, I can’t really complain as this will be the first time in nearly 2 years and 20,000 shots that I’ve actually cleaned my sensor!

I’ll be sure to make an extra special effort to catch up with the pics over the weekend!

Got to love it when tech exceeds expectations..

I hardly every watch actual TV, partly because it’s mostly rubbish, but also because my sky box is upstairs and so I only really watch it when I’m in bed – which means I never actually get to catch up with everything I’ve recorded unless I burn it to DVD and watch it on my Mac.

Cue the geek solution. I’ve bought myself a Slingbox which is a particularly funky bit of kit that will take a video input from just about anything a squirt it over ethernet. They’ve got desktop clients of PC and Mac and you can even dial home from an mobile and watch on yer iPhone. It’s got an IR sender widget so you can control the box too and if you’re using a desktop app it even gives you an on-screen version of the sky remote (or your desktop box of choice).

Really nice bit of kit, see:

Loving the snow today. First time in years we’ve have proper snow that’s lasted. Of course the downside of living out in the sticks is that our road is still pretty lethal, but thankfully given that the schools are shut that means I’m not teaching tonight and don’t need to drive anywhere. Wellies on then and out for a stomp in the snow!

Lots of pics up on my Flickr account, and of course one for today:

Ow, and then ow some more..

Flippin heck, that was pleasant.

I woke up this morning with what felt like the hangover from hell, splitting headache and decidedly nauseous, which sucks given that I don’t actually drink! It’s entirely possible that it was down to something I ate yesterday, or possibly (shudders to think) down to me breathing in something unpleasant from our boiler which had been on the frizz for a couple of days. Thankfully it’s been serviced today but I’d rather not consider the potential implications if that was the case…

Anyway, suffice to say having got up about 10, taken lots of lovely drugs and gone back to bed I eventually resurfaced about 2:30 to lots more lovely snow and stuff. So, pic of the day then.

A little bit of winter…

2010

So , 2010 then, hello :)

I suppose traditionally this would be time for one of those typical new years state of the nation posts when one reflects on everything that happened over the past year etc. Well, hmm, some good stuff happened, some utterly shit stuff happened and some stuff I’d really rather happened differently happened. There, that’s that :)

I’m actually rather looking forward to 2010 for all sorts of reasons. Got a few goals, obviously, will post about them in the next couple of days. There are a couple of things I’m starting right away though:

The first of which is a new ‘Pic-a-Day’ project: ‘365 2010‘. The intention as before is to get me taking more photos and looking for more creative photo opportunities. Is doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll take pics every day, but I am going to try and post one for each day. And I’m only planning to post new pics taken specifically for this rather than dig through my archives.

I’m also planning to try and get my blogging head back into the personal development stuff I used to write about a few tears back as that seemed to go down quite well with some of my mates. I’ll crack on with some goals-related stuff tomorrow. In the mean time, have a pic.
